Job Title: Civil Foreman – Roadworks
Department: Construction / Site Operations
Reports To: Site Engineer / Construction Manager
Job Summary:
The Civil Foreman (Roadworks) is responsible for supervising and coordinating road construction activities, including earthworks, sub-base, asphalt paving, drainage, and related works. The role ensures that all tasks are completed on time, within quality standards, and in compliance with safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Supervision:
- Supervise daily roadwork activities including excavation, grading, sub-base preparation, asphalt laying, and compaction.
- Assign work to skilled and unskilled laborers, equipment operators, and subcontractors.
- Monitor progress and ensure adherence to project specifications and drawings.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect workmanship and materials to ensure compliance with project and industry standards.
- Coordinate with site engineers and QA/QC team for testing of materials (asphalt, aggregates, soil compaction).
- Rectify non-conformities and implement corrective measures.
- Resource Management:
- Ensure proper use of manpower, equipment, and materials.
- Monitor availability of machinery (graders, rollers, pavers, etc.) and request support when required.
- Prevent wastage of materials and resources.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
- Enforce site safety rules and ensure workers use proper PPE.
- Identify potential hazards and take preventive measures.
- Report accidents or near misses immediately to management.
- Coordination & Reporting:
- Communicate daily with the Site Engineer/Construction Manager about site progress and challenges.
- Keep daily site records of manpower, equipment usage, and completed works.
- Assist in preparing daily and weekly progress reports.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent technical qualification (preferred).
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in road construction projects (earthworks, asphalt paving, drainage, utilities).
- Strong knowledge of roadwork construction methods, equipment, and quality standards.
- Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
- Leadership and team supervision skills.
- Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
