Job Description: Civil Maintenance Engineer – Combined Cycle Power Plant

Due to the Nature of Requirement: Only candidates that possess experience from Power Plants will be considered for this role.

Position Overview

The Civil Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining the structural integrity, reliability, and safety of all civil and structural assets in a Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP). This includes routine inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, repair planning, and coordination with operations and mechanical/electrical teams to ensure continuous and efficient plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Structural Inspection & Condition Monitoring

• Conduct routine inspections of gas turbine (GT), steam turbine (ST), and HRSG foundations
• Monitor vibration‑related structural issues around GT/ST/HRSG areas
• Inspect cooling towers, ACC structures, pipe racks, chimneys, tanks, and auxiliary buildings
• Perform NDT tests (rebound hammer, UPV, core tests, rebar scanning)
• Identify deterioration such as cracks, spalling, corrosion, settlement, and thermal damage
• Prepare condition assessment reports with repair recommendations

2. Civil Maintenance & Repair Works

• Execute concrete repair works (epoxy injection, jacketing, grouting, patching)
• Maintain steel structures exposed to heat, vibration, and corrosion
• Oversee painting and coating systems for structures in high‑temperature zones
• Maintain drainage systems, stormwater channels, culverts, and plant roads
• Repair and maintain cooling water structures, sumps, trenches, and chemical containment areas
• Support repairs of GT/ST/HRSG foundations, anchor bolts, and embedded plates

3. Outage & Shutdown Support

• Prepare civil maintenance scope for GT, ST, and HRSG outages
• Coordinate with mechanical teams during major overhauls (CI, HGPI, MI)
• Ensure safe access (scaffolding, platforms) for HRSG inspections
• Develop method statements, risk assessments, and work permits
• Prioritize critical civil tasks to align with outage windows

4. Contractor & Site Management

• Supervise civil maintenance contractors and ensure compliance with plant standards
• Verify material quality, workmanship, and adherence to specifications
• Review contractor BOQs, technical submittals, and invoices
• Ensure safe execution of works in live plant areas

5. Documentation & Asset Management

• Maintain inspection logs, repair history, and as‑built documentation
• Use CMMS (SAP PM, Maximo, Oracle EAM) for work orders and preventive maintenance
• Prepare technical reports, repair proposals, and cost estimates
• Update civil drawings and asset condition records

6. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with plant safety procedures (LOTO, confined space, hot work)
• Implement environmental controls during repair activities
• Participate in safety audits, toolbox talks, and emergency response drills
• Ensure safe access around HRSG, GT, and ST areas during maintenance

Required Technical Skills

• Structural inspection and NDT techniques
• Concrete and steel repair methodologies
• Knowledge of ACI, AISC, ASTM, and coating standards (SSPC/NACE)
• Familiarity with CCPP systems: GT, ST, HRSG, ACC/cooling towers, BOP structures
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro (for structural checks), and CMMS tools
• Understanding of drainage, water systems, and industrial infrastructure

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• 3–10 years of civil maintenance experience in CCPPs, thermal plants, refineries, or heavy industry
• Experience with vibration‑sensitive structures and high‑temperature zones
• Certifications in NDT, coating inspection, or safety (advantageous)
