Job Purpose

To supervise the maintenance, operations, calibration of equipment and assets within the premises by coordinating the Technicians’ efforts to ensure that all required activities – contractual commitments to clients - are carried out promptly, safely, and cost effectively.


Key Accountabilities

  • Supervise sub-contractors’ work to ensure quality service is delivered with minimum downtime while also reporting progress to the line manager.
  • Attend to all calls being forwarded by the Help Desk in order to investigate reported problems, organise Technicians and the work that needs to be done, and supervise the works while ensuring that the problems are resolved to maintain high level customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure that all operations and maintenance tasks are performed in conformity with the prescribed work methods, quality standards, and safety guidelines by conducing inspections when needed, guiding Technicians, and participating in complex works when needed.
  • Appraise specific works as instructed by the line manager, prepare the necessary reports with recommendations, and raise same to the line manager for action.
  • Ensure that all works documentation is being properly filled by the Technicians and that services weather scheduled or not are being updated to reflect work progress.
  • Organise the work of Technicians based on the Team Leader’s maintenance schedules for the allocated buildings/ assets within the facility/ premises to ensure that all required work is done on time and without any delay in service delivery.
  • Supervise Technicians and monitor the progress and quality of work that is assigned to them in order to ensure that all work is done swiftly and with high quality standards.
  • Anticipate need for materials and raise material request orders to the line manager for approval to ensure their availability before the commencement of the scheduled work.
  • Ensure that all assets and equipment are being properly calibrated to ensure that they remain in good condition and function correctly.
  • Ensure that equipment and tools are being properly used by Technicians and that they are being serviced and maintained as planned to ensure that they continue to function properly while also making sure that their maintenance history is recorded.
  • Supervise the activities and work of subordinates to ensure that all work within a specific area of the activity is carried out in an efficient manner and in a way that is consistent with operating procedures and policies.
  • Provide on-the-job training and constructive feedback to subordinates to support their overall development.
  • Monitor the Technicians’ daily work and raise any concerns about malpractices, poor performance, and inadequacy to the Team Leader for action.
  • Assist the line manager in the preparation of work cost estimates for required maintenance tasks avoiding overspending and minimizing additional costs.
  • Lead the team to inspect and paint when necessary building surfaces
  • Understand and propose the right color schemes and paint materials to repair building surfaces

  • Implement policies, systems, and procedures so that all relevant requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality and cost-effective service.
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant quality, health, safety, and environmental management procedures and controls within a defined area of activity to guarantee employee safety, compliance, delivery of high quality services, and a responsible environmental attitude.
  • Conduct toolbox talks & SOP training whenever he is deemed competent by the engineer
  • Ensure waste segregation is done
  • Routine inspection: ladders, harness, first aid box
  • Ensure availability of MSDS near point of use of each chemical: report any missing one to HSEEQ department
  • Implement the risk control measures arising from the HIRA
  • Comply with / support the company asset management strategy applicable for its contract.

Qualifications, Experiences, Skills

  • Diploma or a 2-year Industrial Training Course in Civil Engineering
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in leading technician teams, and coordinating operations and facilities management projects, activities, maintenance works
  • Project management skills, coordination skills, innovative and conceptual skills, organisation, numerical and problem solving skills, communication and interpersonal skills, planning and organising skills, coaching and people management skills, computer proficiency, knowledge in ergonomics and safety standards, and multiple stakeholder management skills
