Role Purpose
The Civil Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing civil construction activities on-site,
ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to safety and quality
standards. This role involves supervising construction teams, coordinating with contractors, and
ensuring compliance with design specifications, regulations, and best practices in civil engineering.
The Civil Supervisor will also resolve on-site issues and ensure that work is carried out in a safe and
efficient manner.
Key Accountabilities Key Activities:
Site Management

Oversee day-to-day operations on the construction site.

Ensure that work is completed in compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.

Organize and manage workforce allocation to ensure the efficient execution of tasks.

Ensure all resources, materials, and equipment are available on-site as needed.
Team Leadership

Supervise, train, and mentor on-site construction teams.

Organize daily briefings to communicate tasks, safety protocols, and updates.

Maintain high morale by promoting teamwork and a positive working environment.

Conduct performance reviews and address personnel concerns as necessary.
Quality Control

Monitor construction activities to ensure that the quality of work meets the required standards.

Conduct inspections at various stages of construction to ensure compliance with design specifications.

Identify potential issues and implement corrective actions.
Health and Safety

Enforce adherence to all safety regulations and construction standards.

Conduct regular safety meetings and risk assessments to prevent accidents and injuries.

Ensure the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) on-site.
Project Coordination

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure project milestones are met.

Report on project progress, highlighting any delays or issues.

Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Documentation and Reporting

Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time logs.

Prepare reports for the Civil Project Manager on site activities, safety performance, and work completion.

Ensure that all documentation is compliant with industry standards and regulations.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Industry / Domain
Necessary Knowledge and Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in civil construction supervision.

Proven experience managing on-site teams and ensuring construction projects are completed on time and to quality standards.

Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction techniques, and relevant safety regulations.

Experience with managing and inspecting works such as concrete pouring, excavation, roadworks, drainage systems, and structural work.
Education and Certification Minimum Requirements

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Certifications in Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) are preferred.

Valid construction supervisor license or equivalent, as required by local regulations.
Job Specific Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend) and MS Office.

Familiarity with design specifications and technical drawings.
