DiplomaPrimary Function:
Under the general direction of the Division Supervisor and DivisionDeputy Director, perform a variety of complex clerical, secretarial, data support back-up services requiring knowledge of specialized matters, public relations work with the Courts, other agencies and related work as required.
General Description:
The Clerk I is under the immediate supervision of the Deputy Director and Supervisor. The work requires the exercise of independent judgment in the professional and discreet handling of defendants under the supervision of the CSCD by orders of the Court, victims of offenders, family and other community members connected to offenders, law enforcement agency representatives, defense attorneys, prosecutors, and court clerk office staff members, as well as the general public.
Specific duties may include but are not limited to:
Receiving, screening, and transferring telephone calls for the office requiring the use of discretion and tact, taking careful messages for CSCD staff and noting them manually or through email, or directing the caller to voicemail as circumstances require.
Receiving, opening sorting, and distributing incoming mail to all CSCD Staff in the assigned division.
Maintaining computer records of all payments made through the CSCD office, including supervision and program fees, and others as may be required.
Making daily deposits to the bank after daily receipts are checked and verified by other office staff; knowledge of computer and basic office machines is required.
Maintaining supply/equipment inventory for the office and preparing orders to maintain supply reserves and provide for equipment repairs; providing computer support backup for the local office Data Processing Clerk and maintenance of computer equipment.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Minimum Entry Level Education is a high school diploma or General Equivalent Diploma (GED).
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Good knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, familiarity and experience with computer-based record keeping including accounts receivable, ability to work independently on difficult and complex clerical tasks, and ability to maintain professional relationships with the Courts, other CSCD employees, various government agencies, probationers, victims, and the general public.
