<Responsibilities>
- Act as the primary point of contact for patient intake via phone, email, and in-person interactions, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks using systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Collect and document accurate patient information, including medical history, current medications, and reason for visit, utilizing EHR systems and maintaining HIPAA compliance
- Schedule appointments efficiently while coordinating with clinical staff to optimize clinic flow and reduce wait times
- Review medical documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring all necessary information is captured for billing and care planning purposes
- Assist with medical billing procedures by understanding CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards, and Medicare requirements
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure proper filing within electronic systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft; update patient files regularly
- Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry, multi-line phone handling, and managing front desk operations to foster a welcoming environment
<Qualifications>
- Proven experience in medical office administration or clinic support roles; dental clinic experience is a plus
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Familiarity with medical coding (CPT, ICD-10/ICD-9), insurance verification processes, and Medicare guidelines
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally and courteously
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills such as Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel), typing (including 10-key), and health information management software
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
- Previous clinic or medical office experience involving intake procedures or front desk responsibilities is preferred
