Position Highlights

Airway Disease Research Center's (A2DRC) Clinical Research Unit (CRU). The CRCIV will be the manager of our pulmonary function testing (PFT) and assessment operations. They will be responsible for all PFT operations, including certification, training, and quality control of all PFT equipment, personnel, and testing results.

The Asthma & Airway Disease Research Center is an interdisciplinary Center of Excellence at the University of Arizona College of Health Sciences dedicated to research, clinical care, medical education, and community service in both adult and pediatric pulmonary medicine. As one of the University's first Centers of Excellence, the Asthma & Airway Disease Research Center has built an international reputation over the past three decades in researching and treating asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, sleep apnea, and other major respiratory diseases.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Training and Certification: Responsible for training and certification of all pulmonary function testing personnel and equipment within the Asthma and Airway Disease Research Center.
  • Research and Analysis: Participate in the pulmonary function assessments of all active protocols/study visits, including overreading and data analyses.
  • Compliance: Ensure that the CRU staff and equipment adhere to all clinical standards and research protocols.
  • Collaborate with the CRU leadership team to supervise and manage CRU personnel, typically 1-2 research staff.
  • Provide backup to CRCs in conduct of clinical trials, and other duties as needed to ensure the success of all studies within the A2DRC CRU.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Conceptual knowledge and expertise of concepts, principles, and practices of respiratory clinical research.
  • Excellent professionalism and communication skills
  • Abilities in problem solving and team dynamics.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience.
  • 8 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience conducting and reading all current pulmonary function testing techniques (min 10 years).
  • Experience working with both federal- and industry- sponsored clinical trials.
  • Experience in complex research programs with significant self motivation, detail-orientation, team-oriented approach and problem solving.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University’s campuses.
