Position Summary

The Research Nurse is responsible for coordinating and executing clinical research activities, ensuring that all study protocols are followed and that participant care is delivered ethically, safely, and efficiently. This role bridges clinical nursing expertise with research compliance and requires strong communication, organizational skill, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, implement, and monitor clinical research study activities according to protocol and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide direct participant care including vital signs, specimen collection, medication administration, and ongoing assessments.
  • Screen, recruit, and consent potential study participants in compliance with IRB and study standards.
  • Educate participants and caregivers on study procedures, expectations, and safety information.
  • Document all patient interactions, procedures, and observations accurately in source documents and electronic data systems.
  • Collaborate with Principal Investigators, study sponsors, and research staff to ensure study milestones are met.
  • Maintain study supplies, investigational products, and equipment according to protocol.
  • Report adverse events, deviations, and safety concerns promptly and appropriately.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice, FDA regulations, and institutional policies.
  • Prepare for and participate in monitoring visits, audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Assist with scheduling visits, tracking participant progress, and follow-up communication.

Qualifications

  • Previous clinical research experience helpful, but not required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel occasionally to off-site locations (if required).
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the clinic environment during patient visits.
