Job Summary
The Clinical Therapist is responsible for overseeing comprehensive client care within a therapeutic program, managing a caseload through individual and group therapy, treatment planning, and ongoing progress monitoring. This role involves close collaboration with families, referring professionals, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, client-centered care. The therapist facilitates communication, supports client transitions, and integrates supplemental therapeutic services as needed.
In addition to direct clinical work, the therapist contributes to the overall treatment environment by supporting staff, guiding client care strategies, and fostering a positive community culture. Responsibilities also include documentation, participation in program development, client enrollment support, and involvement in on-call rotations and professional outreach.
Responsibilities
Oversees client care for each client on the caseload:
- Conducts a minimum of 2 individual sessions (in-person) with each client per week.
- Oversees the completion of the TNE curriculum.
- Conduct group therapy sessions.
- Communicates by phone and email with parents/sponsors of each client on their caseload a minimum of one scheduled hour per week as well as any required follow up communication related to client or family concerns, logistical needs, and transition support.
- Supports appropriate correspondence between the parents/sponsors and their clients. This includes facilitation of written correspondence as well as scheduling telehealth and zoom sessions between clients and family members, both with and without therapist facilitation.
- Communicates by phone and email with educational consultants and other referring and consulting professionals to coordinate care, gather information, and provide updates and recommendations.
- Collaborates regularly (at least once per week) with the Parent Program Therapists who are working with the clients on their caseload.
- Maintain awareness of client medication needs and communicate as needed with the nurse, medical director and other treatment team members, parents/sponsors and other relevant professionals.
- Coordinates psychiatric care.
- Facilitates a collaborative transition planning experience for clients together with their families and referring/consulting professionals.
- Assesses need/interest in supplemental therapies and creates treatment plans that may include referrals for EMDR, somatic breathing, infrared sauna/cold plunge therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic, physical therapy, and personalized support with diet and nutrition, exercise plans, and sleep hygiene.
- Assesses psychoeducational testing needs and coordinates testing with appropriate professionals.
- Participates in client graduations.
- Completes individual treatment plans, phone logs, case notes, final reports, and other paperwork in a professional and timely fashion.
Oversees the emotional and physical well-being of their clients and contributes to a positive, supportive and connected culture within the TNE community as a whole:
- Provides guidance and support to guides working directly with clients.
- Offers perspective by detailing treatment outcomes for clients and for the group.
- Coordinates with direct care and operations staff to ensure appropriate activities and interventions are appropriate and aligned with individual client treatment outcomes.
- Provides feedback for guides and supports their ongoing growth and professional development.
Contributes to the Treatment team:
- Available to facilitate client enrollments. Clinical Therapists are present for the first 15-30 minutes of a client’s enrollment to offer immediate clinical assessment as well as support and a thorough and sensitive introduction to all clients and their families.
- Represent the program at conferences and other professional events.
- Participate in program and curriculum development.
- Participate in the regular on-call rotation. This requires clinical therapists to be available by cell phone for one week at a time for as needed clinical assessment or support. Generally, this requires simple verbal instructions or support but may occasionally require a physical presence for more significant assessment or support.
- Facilitate occasional clinical training for guides covering a range of clinical concepts, theories, and tools.
Education and Licensing Requirements
- Must have a master's degree or higher from an accredited school in social work, psychology, counseling or a related field.
- Must be licensed in the state of Vermont or rostered and actively seeking licensure.
Supervision Received:
- Receives performance feedback and evaluation from the clinical and executive director.
- Participates in regular clinical meetings to review cases, receive support and direction, and clarify needs and concerns.
- True North strongly encourages and will provide in-house supervision for social workers seeking licensure, or cover costs associated with outside professional supervision for those in counseling or psychology fields seeking full professional licensure in the State of Vermont.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
