Ipas Pakistan seeks the services of a Senior Clinical Trainer with a successful record of Clinical Trainings (on job and classroom) in the Reproductive health sector, covering Post abortion care (MVA /MA) and Post partum and post abortion family planning LARCs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about Ipas’s mission, vision and core values and have the capacity to lead excellent Training execution, reporting and supervision of field technical team (RH Officers). Success in this role will depend on attention to detail, determination to achieve training and supportive supervision targets on time, taking initiative in improvement of data, a proactive approach to risk management and troubleshooting and strong communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
Health System Strengthening – Clinical
  • Conduct clinical trainings on Women-Centered Post Abortion Care, Family Planning and EMONC as Master Trainer, in line with Ipas’ Quality of Care Policy, standards and guidelines.
  • Plan and manage Health System Strengthening work across all Ipas projects with direct implementation and/or through the partners
  • Facilitate in the development of strategic and programmatic plans for post-abortion care and family planning initiatives, ensuring they are evidence-based and aligned with national priorities and Ipas standards
  • Co-create quarterly training plans and lead its execution with a team of reproductive health officers training within the scope, timelines, and budget.
  • Provide mentorship for clinical teams and other program staff on family planning methods, service delivery, and quality improvement.
  • Supervise, support and strengthen HSS team members at provincial and district levels to strengthen HSS interventions and improve QoC in public and private health system
  • Conduct regular monitoring and back stopping for RH officers (in all provinces) and lead the RH officer’s monthly field activity plan.
  • Maintain daily interaction with field team (RH officers) to support and supervise their field work
  • Develop monthly activity planner with support of RH officers at start of month (1-2nd of the month) and share with supervisor, S&S and Admin for approvals and facilitation in logistic arrangement
  • Conduct field visits to assess on-site activities e.g. supportive supervision, hands-on training, special on-job training on request by stakeholders and routine clinical competency visits by RH officers.
  • Conduct field activities such as clinical mentoring and supportive supervision and data collection when needed or to carry out spot checks.
  • Ensure supportive supervision sessions planning, execution, data analysis and corrective action for provision and improvement of HCF data for PAC and FP services
  • Monitor and report weekly to supervisor on RH Officer field progress, challenges and recommendations
  • Support advocacy efforts to promote PAC and FP services and increase access to information and resources.
External Representation
  • Represent Ipas in external technical working groups, forums and meetings
Quality assurance
  • Comply with Ipas’s quality of care standards and High impact clinical and managerial practices and coordinate with the Health Systems unit and others as required to provide technical support to the field activities
  • Undertake field visits and perform spot checks on RH officers for real-time implementation support.
  • Document observations and recommendations for improving RH Officer’s performance to achieve the intended outcomes.
  • Promote innovation and learning in the HSS activities.
  • Coordinate with the Research, Monitoring and Evaluation (RME) team for effective data reporting like Clinical competency data (Provider performance form), CA & GA forms, logbook data submission and keep track them
  • Monthly data presentation to supervisor (SS analysis/PAC services/PAC-FP data)
  • Follow-up with RH officers on the recommendations provided by RME and Health Systems advisor for ensuring quality.
Reporting and Documentation
  • Maintain an up-to-date record of the RH officers’ and any other deployed staff’s field activities and data documented by them
  • Prepare and issue monthly field reports (collectively received from each RH Officer) to supervisor
  • Document project wise clinical activities (both success or failures and lessons learned) and share regularly for program improvement and reporting
  • Prepare need-based reports and presentations on field activities performed by RH officers
  • Ensure timely data collection by field team and means of verification of field activities are uploaded in the Ipas database.
  • Provide routine oversight and analysis of field data to management.
  • Coordinate closely with Finance and Admin team to ensure HSS activities and record-keeping complies with audit requirements.
People Management
  • Line manages designated staff, ensuring appropriate goal setting, KPIs, conducting regular check-ins and formal appraisals.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to staff for professional development.
  • Build the technical capacity of the team in a deliberate and concerted manner.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and implement effective team management processes to ensure work targets are achieved on time while promoting a learning and accountability culture.
Travel: 50% travel would be required for Clinical Trainer position (on need basis)
Other
The role of the Clinical Trainer is not restricted to the above and s/he may be asked to perform other duties as directed by supervisor and HOP.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Education
Required:
  • Qualified health professional (doctor/LHV/nurse/midwife)
Desired:
  • Masters’ or post-graduate qualification in a related field
  • Professional training certification in PAC (MVA) & Family planning service delivery standards.
  • Certified as Master Trainer through reputable organization on PPFP, PAFP , MVA, LARCs and other service delivery standards
Skills and Experience
Required:
  • Experience in conducting and supervising clinical trainings, training record maintenance; and field experience in reproductive health programs focused on PAC and FP
  • Competent in performing PAC and FP procedures (MVA, MA, LARC services etc.)
  • Overall 12 years of professional experience
  • At least 5 years of clinical training experience is required, with at least two years of experience of working in conducting and organizing trainings
  • Strong advocacy skills, leadership qualities, ability to create synergies, interpersonal skills to fulfill the diverse technical and managerial requirements of the Ipas program
  • Ability to develop working relationships with counterparts of varying levels of seniority and backgrounds to implement program activities.
  • Proven professional experience working with nonprofit organizations, an/or government organizations, preferably in MNCH program.
  • Excellent training and supportive supervisory skills and well versed with adult teaching principles
  • Familiarity with PAC and FP standards and guidelines and High Impact Practices
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and creatively in a multicultural context
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to work efficiently to meet targets and deadlines
  • Willing and able to undertake travel to KP, Sindh and Punjab for program implementation
Desired
  • Prior experience of working in programs to address FP services gaps at Public and private provider level
  • Subject-matter expertise in SRH/FP/PAC
  • Good written and spoken English, Urdu and provincial local language
  • Good experience of MS office like MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise confidentiality and professionalism.
