Description:

Essential Functions

• Estimate labor hours and material costs for manufacturing activities related to proposals and contracts.
• Apply knowledge of pricing methodologies and estimating tools to develop accurate and competitive cost projections.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing and Customer Program Managers to create detailed labor hour estimates.
• Work with vendors and the Purchasing Manager to develop consolidated, priced bills of material.
• Compute cost factors and prepare estimates for use in planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
• Support bid preparation, vendor/subcontractor selection, and cost-effectiveness analysis.

Responsibilities

• Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and related documents to determine machining and manufacturing requirements.
• Develop time standards for CNC and manual machining processes, setups, and run times.
• Identify tooling, fixtures, and materials required for production and estimate associated costs.
• Maintain estimating database and ensure accuracy of cost data for future proposals.
• Prepare written estimates and present findings to management for review and approval.
• Assist in make-or-buy decisions, ensuring optimal use of internal resources versus subcontracting.
• Continuously refine estimating methods based on feedback, production results, and industry benchmarks.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 3+ years of experience in CNC machining, cost estimating, or related manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, materials (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, composites), and aerospace/defense manufacturing standards.
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, estimating software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external suppliers.
