Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable CNC Mill Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate and program HURCO & Makino CNC milling machines as well as manual mills, to produce precision components that meet exact specifications. Your expertise in machining, blueprint reading, and technical programming will be instrumental in ensuring high-quality production standards.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines, including HURCO and Fanuc controls, ensuring accurate execution of complex machining tasks
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to produce precise parts
- At times, program CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and verify tool paths for optimal performance
- Conduct measurements using precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to ensure parts meet quality standards
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime
- Select appropriate tooling and fixtures for each job, ensuring proper alignment and safety procedures are followed
- Collaborate with team members on assembly processes and support continuous improvement initiatives like lean manufacturing practices
Requirements
- Proven experience operating and programming CNC milling machines
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T, and mechanical principles related to manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in CNC programming using CAM software; experience with SolidWorks or CAD tools is a plus
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machine settings
- Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines
- Mechanical knowledge of tooling setup, electrical discharge machining (EDM), welding, plastics injection molding, and power tools preferred
- Ability to work safely using hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and other manufacturing equipment while adhering to safety protocols
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency and waste reduction in production workflows
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials as needed
