CNC Miller Setter/Operator (Day Shift)

Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and reliable CNC Miller – Setter/Operator to join our machining team.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced machinist who can set and operate CNC milling machines independently, maintain high quality standards, and take ownership of their work from setup through to completion.

You will be working on complex aluminium castings and precision components across a varied batch environment.

Duties

• Set and operate CNC milling machines (Mazak / Fanuc-controlled machining centres)
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately
• Select and set tooling, offsets, and fixtures
• Carry out first-off inspections and in-process checks
• Ensure components meet quality standards (deburring, finishing, correct operations completed)
• Maintain machine utilisation and minimise downtime
• Identify and escalate issues proactively (tooling, programme, material, or process concerns)
• Work closely with Supervisors and Quality to ensure right-first-time output

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience as a CNC Miller Setter/Operator
• Strong experience with Mazak and/or Fanuc controls
• Ability to set machines independently (not just operate)
• Good understanding of tooling, feeds & speeds, and machining principles
• High attention to detail and quality standards
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving
• Team player with a reliable and professional attitude

Desirable (but not essential)

• Experience machining aluminium castings
• Experience with 3, 4 or 5-axis machining
• Basic editing of CNC programmes
