We are currently seeking a highly experienced and strategic Commercial & Contracts Director to join our senior leadership team in Doha, Qatar. This is a Full-Time position for an individual who will be instrumental in driving the commercial success of our organization, managing contractual risk, and ensuring the profitability of our diverse portfolio of projects.
Responsibilities
As the Commercial & Contracts Director, you will be responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the company's commercial and contractual functions. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing robust commercial strategies to support the company's growth and profitability objectives.
- Leading all aspects of contract administration, including the review, negotiation, and management of contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Overseeing the entire project lifecycle from a commercial perspective, from pre-qualification and tendering through to project close-out and final account settlement.
- Providing expert guidance on claims management, dispute resolution, and risk mitigation to protect the company's interests.
- Managing the procurement and supply chain functions to ensure value for money and timely delivery of materials and services.
- Leading the preparation of project budgets, cost control measures, and financial forecasting.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and partners.
- Ensuring all commercial and contractual activities are compliant with Qatari laws and regulations.
- Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team of commercial and contracts professionals.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a commercially astute leader with a proven track record of success in the construction industry.
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Law, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in a senior commercial and contracts management role within a design-build or main contracting environment.
- Extensive experience working on large-scale construction projects in the Middle East, with a strong preference for experience in Qatar.
- Professional chartership with a relevant body, such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS/FRICS).
- Expert knowledge of various forms of construction contracts, particularly FIDIC.
- Demonstrable experience in claims preparation, negotiation, and dispute resolution.
- Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze complex data and make strategic decisions.
