Role Overview

The Commercial Director will play a critical role in steering the company’s commercial direction, driving business performance, and maximizing revenue across all income-generating units. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is responsible for overseeing the business development, sales, and other commercial functions to ensure cohesive growth strategies and strong market positioning.


The ideal candidate is a results-driven leader with a strong understanding of digital ecosystems and commercial operations, capable of translating strategy into measurable outcomes and building high-performing teams.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and implement the organization’s commercial strategy to deliver growth, profitability, and market share expansion.
  • Partner with the CEO and leadership team in setting annual business targets, financial forecasts, and performance indicators.
  • Lead strategic initiatives that drive innovation, diversification, and long-term commercial sustainability.
  • Ensure all commercial decisions align with the company’s mission, brand, and strategic direction.

Revenue and Business Growth

  • Oversee all business functions responsible for revenue generation, customer acquisition, and client retention.
  • Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities, strategic alliances, and market trends.
  • Strengthen pricing, negotiation, and partnership frameworks to optimize revenue streams.
  • Implement performance metrics and reporting mechanisms to monitor growth and profitability across all business units.

Financial and Operational Excellence

  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes for all commercial departments.
  • Ensure sound financial management, cost optimization, and accountability across teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional heads in marketing, finance, and product management to support strategic alignment.
  • Oversee contract management, compliance, and profitability analyses for key commercial operations.

Leadership and People Development

  • Lead and inspire a diverse team of senior managers and commercial professionals.
  • Foster a culture of performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop succession and capability plans to strengthen leadership within commercial teams.
  • Represent the commercial organization in executive meetings, group discussions, and strategic planning sessions.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • At least 8 to 12 years of senior leadership experience managing commercial, business development, or sales operations, ideally within digital, media, or platform-based organizations.
  • Proven success in developing growth strategies and leading diverse business portfolios.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with advanced strategic planning and analytical capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate, and build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
