Position Summary

The Commercial HVAC Service Technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and commissioning large-tonnage chillers and associated commercial HVAC systems. In addition to chiller work, this role includes servicing standard commercial HVAC equipment and ensuring all systems operate safely, efficiently, and in alignment with customer performance standards and contractual expectations. This is a field-based role requiring strong troubleshooting ability, an independent work ethic, and professional communication with clients and facility teams.

Key Responsibilities

This position involves troubleshooting and repairing commercial HVAC equipment, including split systems, package units, chillers up to 2500 tons, pumps, cooling towers, boilers, and VRF systems. The technician will install and replace commercial HVAC equipment such as chillers and rooftop units, perform preventative maintenance and operational testing, and diagnose electrical, mechanical, refrigerant, and control issues using advanced diagnostic tools. Responsibilities also include conducting equipment start-ups and commissioning, interpreting wiring diagrams and technical manuals, maintaining accurate service documentation, providing technical recommendations to customers, participating in on-call rotation, and adhering to all safety and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

Minimum five years of hands-on chiller service experience
Minimum five years of commercial HVAC service experience
Strong understanding of refrigerant systems, compressor technology, and chiller controls
Advanced electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
Proficiency in reading technical diagrams and using computerized diagnostic equipment
EPA 608 Universal Certification
Valid driver's license with insurable driving record
Ability to work independently and manage multiple service assignments
Strong communication, time management, and documentation skills
