We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Commis 1 to join the culinary team of a prestigious French café in Qatar. The ideal candidate will have a passion for French cuisine, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, fine-dining kitchen environment. This role is essential in supporting senior chefs in delivering high-quality dishes with consistency and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items under the guidance of the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety.
- Ensure all mise en place is completed before service begins.
- Follow recipes and presentation standards as directed by the senior kitchen team.
- Work efficiently in designated sections such as cold kitchen, hot kitchen, or pastry.
- Properly store food items and monitor stock levels, reporting any shortages.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations and HACCP guidelines.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and workstations in excellent condition.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Commis 1 or similar role in a high-end or fine-dining restaurant (French cuisine experience preferred).
- Culinary diploma or professional kitchen training.
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations and basic cooking techniques.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in luxury hotels, five-star restaurants, or French cafés.
- Basic knowledge of French dishes, sauces, and pastries.
- Familiarity with HACCP and other food safety standards.
