Position Summary
The Commis 3 is an entry-level kitchen role, responsible for assisting with basic food preparation and supporting the kitchen team in maintaining cleanliness and organization. This position is ideal for individuals who are new to professional kitchens and eager to learn the fundamentals of culinary operations in a supportive environment. The Commis 3 works under close supervision, performing simple tasks and gradually building foundational skills.
Key Responsibilities
Basic Food Preparation & Support
· Assist with simple food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and cutting vegetables and fruits.
· Set up and clean workstations before and after service.
· Follow instructions from senior chefs and complete assigned prep work promptly.
· Help with plating and assembling dishes as directed.
Kitchen Hygiene & Safety
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, utensils, and equipment at all times.
· Support dishwashing, waste disposal, and general cleaning duties as needed.
· Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards, including proper storage and labelling of ingredients.
Teamwork & Learning
· Work cooperatively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
· Take direction and feedback from senior chefs to improve skills and performance.
· Demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
Inventory & Stock Handling
· Assist with receiving and storing deliveries under supervision.
· Help with stock rotation and report any shortages or quality issues to supervisors.
General Duties
· Follow all company safety and security procedures.
· Maintain a clean and professional appearance and uniform.
· Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.
· Stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs as required during shifts.
Qualifications & Skills
· No prior professional kitchen experience required; basic culinary training is an advantage.
· Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs.
· Good teamwork and communication skills.
· Attention to cleanliness and organization.
· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
· Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
· Positive attitude, reliability, and a desire to grow in the culinary field.
