Overview:
The Commodity/Strategic Buyer will be responsible for leading strategic procurement and supplier management activities within an international manufacturing environment. The position oversees sourcing strategies, supplier selection, contract negotiations, and supplier development while ensuring compliance with procurement standards. The ideal candidate will bring several years of procurement and supply chain experience, preferably in the automotive sector, with expertise in ERP systems (SAP MM), cross-functional leadership, and negotiation.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Procurement & Supplier Management:

Analyze global procurement markets, identify trends and innovation potential.

Visit trade fairs and exhibitions to identify new suppliers and technologies.

Develop and implement sourcing strategies for key commodity groups and suppliers.

Identify, assess, and onboard new technologies and alternative suppliers.

Conduct tenders and e-auctions across functions and locations.
-
Negotiate prices and legal terms, document negotiation outcomes.

Execute supplier selection processes and conclude contracts based on defined criteria.

Establish and monitor supplier KPIs; manage escalation processes and foster supplier development.

Implement risk mitigation strategies and establish dual/multi-source approaches as needed.
Process Development & Optimization:

Continuously develop and improve procurement tools, methods, and reporting processes.

Identify optimization potential along the end-to-end procurement and logistics chain.

Implement standardized processes and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.

Development, implementation, and support of supply-chain processes, systems, and tools for the strategic and operational management of the supply chain from customer order receipt to delivery to the customer
Required Skills and Qualifications:

Successfully completed university degree (min. 4 years) ideally in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Business Administration.

Several years of relevant experience in strategic procurement within an industrial/technical environment.

Professional experience in supply chain and logistics, material and resources planning and scheduling, ideally within an international manufacturing company in the automotive sector

Proven experience in production planning or similar roles

Proven track record in cross-functional project and team leadership.

Strong technical understanding combined with a cost-conscious mindset.

Solid project management experience.

Excellent negotiation skills and confident communication at all levels.

Proficient in ERP (SAP MM) Microsoft Office, MS Teams, and other procurement/reporting tools.

High analytical thinking ability, assertiveness, media competence, and a hands-on mentality.
