JOB TITLE: Communications Associate
Department: Communications
Reports to: Communications Director
Part-Time hourly, Non-Exempt
Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (30-minute lunch)
Occasional nights and weekend events
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Drive Engagement and Reach: Develop and execute innovative media content (text, images, and video) to boost engagement and reach across social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube) year-round and for Skating in the Park seasonally.
· Strategic Content Planning: Create and maintain a social media calendar that aligns with and supports the Museum’s objectives, increasing audience interaction and participation. Submit upcoming events to community calendars.
· Increase Visibility: Submit upcoming events to community calendars to maximize event visibility and attendance.
· Optimize Campaign Performance: Write compelling copy, design engaging content, and coordinate targeted campaigns to enhance audience engagement and conversion rates.
· Boost Online Growth: Develop and implement digital strategies to expand the Museum’s online presence and follower base. Monitor, analyze, and communicate social media and PR results on a monthly basis.
· Foster Community Interaction: Monitor social media platforms and respond promptly to maintain active and positive audience engagement.
· Measure and Communicate Success: Monitor, analyze, and report monthly on social media and PR performance metrics to measure success and inform future strategies.
· Effective Email Marketing: Design and schedule impactful email marketing campaigns through Pardot to increase open and click-through rates.
· Enhance Web Presence: Regularly update the website to ensure current, relevant content, improving user experience and search engine ranking. Represent the Museum on camera with media in the absence of the Communications Director.
· Streamline E-commerce: Set up and manage the e-commerce site for ticketed events to maximize sales and user satisfaction.
· Strengthen Media Relations: Assist with preparing and distributing press releases and media advisories to increase media coverage and public awareness. Assist with administrative support for the Communications Department.
· Serve as Media Liaison: Represent the Museum on camera with media in the absence of the Communications Director to maintain consistent messaging and public relations.
· Support Publication Production: Assist in the development and delivery of ArtViews Magazine, enhancing the Museum’s brand and outreach.
· Design Impactful Graphics: Create visually appealing artwork and graphics for print and digital media to support marketing and communication goals.
· Administrative Efficiency: Provide administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the Communications Department.
· Adaptability: Perform other duties as assigned to contribute to the overall success of the Communications Department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field, or equivalent experience.
· Experience: Minimum of two years in Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing (internships and school projects accepted).
· Social Media Expertise: Proficiency in major social media platforms.
· Engagement Skills: Experience with social media monitoring and response.
· Media Skills: Photography and videography skills.
· Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
· Editorial Skills: Excellent copyediting and proofreading skills.
· Technical Skills: Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills (preferred), experience with WordPress, knowledge of SEO, keyword search, Google Analytics, and basic HTML skills (preferred).
· IT Skills: Basic ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
