CAIR-Georgia is the Georgia chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest civil liberties and advocacy group serving the Muslim community. Our mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, protect civil liberties, and empower Muslims in America to advocate for themselves. The Opportunity
CAIR-Georgia is looking for a passionate and dedicated Communications Coordinator. This team member will assist the Communications Manager to develop and implement communication campaigns to boost brand engagement and amplify CAIR-Georgia’s mission.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Reports directly to the CAIR-Georgia Communications Manager and will assist in executing CAIR-Georgia’s communications goals through the end of the contract period
- Develop social media and other content, including but not limited to graphics, posts, print materials, reels and videos, and other content for CAIR-Georgia’s civic engagement, fundraising, education, and outreach events and campaigns
- Manage and a posting schedule with the Communications Manager for the duration of the contract period
- Assist with the design and execution of social media content and campaigns using Canva, Adobe Creative and other applications
- Create and distribute content videos, graphic carousels, press releases and action alerts on social media and communication channels
- Create compelling graphics to share across social channels including Instagram, Facebook, X, BlueSky, TikTok, Youtube and respond to comments and DMs on social media platforms
- Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns
- Support the CAIR-Georgia team at live and online events
- Write social media captions that speak to the CAIR-Georgia’s target audience
- Help create and edit short-form videos, and other videos as directed by the Communications Manager
- Participate in team meetings to stay up to date on organizational updates and projects
- Develop new strategies for increasing engagement, including adding collaborators and tagging organizations
- Assist with photo/video content shoots, including filming for CAIR-Georgia projects
- Ensure social media messaging is consistent and streamlined across platforms
- Participate in CAIR-Georgia outreach events, including tabling in community spaces and other CAIR-Georgia events.
- Assist the CAIR-Georgia team in other tasks as they arise
Experience:
- Communication skills: 1 year (Preferred)
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s or higher. Postgraduate students currently enrolled may apply
- Majors: Pursuing or recently completed a degree in English, communications, public relations, journalism, design, or a related field
- Strong writing ability with attention to detail, punctuation, and grammar
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a very fast-paced and quick turnaround environment
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to strict timelines and deadlines
- Ability to conduct research and synthesize information for effective messaging
- Experience in drafting and executing social media campaigns and social media calendar
- Experience in email and digital marketing. Familiarity with mailchimp, wordpress, linktree, Meta business suite preferred
- Ability to track and document social media analytics
- Must be receptive to feedback
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Proficient with graphic design, video editing and productions software such as Canva, Adove and Capcut
- Proficient with Facebook, Instagram, Meta Business Suite, X and TikTok,
- Background in graphic design preferred
- Strong commitment to civil rights and to CAIR’s mission and goals
- A history of working collaboratively and successfully with people and organizations from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds and a broad range of ideological positions and religious views.
- Must be comfortable talking on camera, and have a good camera presence
- Creative, results-oriented, self-starting, and willing to learn.
