Job Description

Position Summary

The Communications & Event Coordinator leads all marketing, storytelling, digital communications, and brand strategy efforts for HomeAid Utah. This role is responsible for elevating the organization’s visibility, planning and executing all events, strengthening community engagement, supporting fundraising campaigns, and ensuring consistent, mission-aligned messaging across all platforms.

This position reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Director of Project Development to amplify project milestones, events, and impact stories that advance HomeAid Utah’s mission to help individuals and families experiencing homelessness build new lives through construction, community engagement, and education.

Key Responsibilities

Communications & Marketing

  • Execute the HomeAid Utah marketing and communications strategy to increase awareness, engagement, and support for the organization’s mission.
  • Plan and manage the content calendar across digital platforms to support campaigns, projects, fundraising efforts, and events.
  • Manage and update the HomeAid Utah website via Squarespace, ensuring content is current, engaging, and optimized for user experience.
  • Develop, schedule, and distribute email campaigns and newsletters using Constant Contact.
  • Manage social media channels including content creation, scheduling, audience engagement, and performance analytics.
  • Coordinate paid social media advertising on Meta platforms, including campaign setup, targeting, budgeting, and optimization.
  • Create compelling storytelling content including impact stories, project highlights, volunteer features, and donor spotlights.
  • Design graphics and marketing materials using Canva and Adobe Suite for digital and print distribution.
  • Support outreach and visibility efforts through press releases, media coordination, and partnership promotions.
  • Collaborate with internal staff to promote construction projects, volunteer opportunities, fundraising campaigns, and community initiatives.
  • Track and analyze marketing performance metrics including website traffic, email engagement, and social media analytics to inform strategy improvements.
  • Generate QR codes and track digital campaign performance across marketing materials and events.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all communications, marketing materials, and digital platforms.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Project & Event Support

  • Lead the planning and execution of all HomeAid Utah events, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, brand standards, and donor stewardship efforts.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for project-related events such as Care Days, ribbon cuttings, and ground breakings, working in collaboration with the Director of Project Development for project-specific coordination with builder partners.
  • Plan and manage logistics for fundraising events, volunteer events, community drives, and education initiatives.
  • Develop event timelines and manage key milestones to ensure smooth execution.
  • Coordinate venues, vendors, catering, rentals, and other event logistics.
  • Create and manage event registration pages, invitations, guest lists, and RSVP tracking.
  • Promote events through social media, email, website updates, and other communication channels.
  • Coordinate sponsor recognition materials and event collateral including signage, programs, name badges, and certificates.
  • Manage on-site event setup, volunteer coordination, and day-of event logistics.
  • Oversee photography and videography to document events for marketing and storytelling.
  • Manage post-event follow-up including thank-you communications, sponsor recognition, and content distribution for marketing and donor engagement.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, journalism, or a related field preferred
  • 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit communications, development, or a related role preferred
  • Experience managing digital marketing platforms and CRM systems
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with leadership and partners

Work Environment

  • Remote work environment, with frequent in-person meetings and events
  • Occasional evening or weekend work for events and meetings
  • Ability to lift and transport event materials as needed

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during events, meetings, and site visits
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or move event materials and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds (such as signage, boxes of materials, or display items)
  • Ability to set up and break down event spaces, including arranging tables, chairs, signage, and promotional materials
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb short ladders when setting up displays or event materials
  • Ability to work in various environments including office settings, conference venues, and outdoor event spaces
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, audiovisual equipment, and mobile devices
  • Ability to travel to event locations and move throughout large venues, hotels, or conference centers as needed

Pay:

  • Part-Time: 25-30 hours per week
  • Non-Exempt/Hourly Pay: Starting at $20 per hour or more depending on experience. Paid bi-monthly.
  • Flexible schedule

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
