Communications Specialist

Communications Specialist - Full Time - Days


Centralus Health, a partnership of Arnot Health and Cayuga Health, has an immediate opening for a Communications Specialist with experience in writing, website management, events, and social media to join our award-winning team with opportunities for advancement. Qualified candidates will possess in-depth knowledge and experience in all aspects of communication. This position reports to the Communications Manager and will work with clinical service lines and support departments within Centralus Health, as well as a large multi-disciplinary physician practice, integrated provider network and multiple hospital foundations.

Qualified candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in a related major and have the ability for project management as part of a team.


Responsibilities and Duties:

External Communications

  • Produce and distribute external communications including but not limited to press releases, media advisories, public statements, and announcements
  • Coordinate with leadership and subject matter experts to ensure accuracy, tone, and message alignment
  • Maintain media contact lists and assist with media inquiries as needed
  • Support proactive storytelling efforts that highlight organizational initiatives, achievements, and impact

Internal Communications

  • Work closely with leadership, marketing, HR, and other departments to support communication needs
  • Produce and distribute internal communications including but not limited to leadership memos, organizational updates, and announcements
  • Assist with producing the weekly internal newsletter, including content planning, writing, editing, and distribution
  • Collaborate with departments to gather content and translate complex information into clear, accessible messaging
  • Help ensure internal communications are timely, consistent, and aligned with organizational values

Social Media Communications

  • Create, schedule, and publish content across social media platforms
  • Monitor social media channels for engagement, comments, and messages, responding or escalating as appropriate

Content Management

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications team members on project tracking and content execution
  • Ensure all communications align with brand voice, tone, and style guidelines
  • Proofread and edit materials for clarity, accuracy, and consistency
  • Assist in maintaining content calendars and communication plans

Duties may also include identifying timely opportunities to promote the organization; event staffing; and photo/video production; and others as assigned.


Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field, or commensurate experience.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) like WordPress.
  • Proficiency in analytics tools such as Google Analytics and SEO platforms.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in marketing and communications
  • Knowledge of AP writing style
  • Photo/video experience
  • Familiarity with content management systems, email platforms, and social media tools a plus
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Interest and experience in health equity, population health, social health determinants, and community partnerships
  • Experience with Wordpress
  • Knowledge of major social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.


Pay Range Disclosure

  • $29.98-$34.00 per hour
