Communications Specialist

They are a partner, advocate and guide for photographers navigating the increasingly complex business of photography. They are also one of the world's largest nonprofit photography associations that is organized to help professional photographers with over 35,000 current members in more than 50 countries.

JOB OVERVIEW:

Our client is seeking a Communications Specialist to join their fast-paced, collaborative MarketingCommunications team in downtown Atlanta. You will be a brand storyteller and a strategic content creator by crafting compelling, informative, and conversion-minded copy across print and digital platforms including email, web, social media, advertising, magazine editorial, video scripts, and more. You understand that great writing is both creative and strategic. You know how to write for humans first and optimize for search second. You will collaborate closely with our SEO strategist to ensure content is discoverable, structured effectively, and aligned with best practices while maintaining a strong, recognizable brand voice. This is a great opportunity for someone that has strong editing discipline, exceptional time management, and the ability to manage multiple projects without sacrificing quality. WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Content CreationBrand Storytelling

  • Write compelling long- and short-form copy for articles, blog posts, web pages, email campaigns, press releases, social media, ads, and video scripts.
  • Contribute to creative concept development that supports marketing initiatives and business objectives.
  • Craft messaging that speaks to professional photographers as creative entrepreneurs and small business owners.
  • Pitch and write editorial content for magazines.
  • Interview members, stakeholders, vendors, and partners to develop stories, testimonials, and case studies.

SEO-Aware Content Development

  • Write web and blog content with foundational SEO understanding, including keyword integration, meta descriptions, heading structure, and internal linking.
  • Collaborate with the SEO strategist to optimize content for search visibility and performance.
  • Analyze content performance metrics and adjust writing strategies accordingly.
  • Support ongoing efforts to grow organic traffic and improve discoverability.

EditingQuality Control

  • Serve as the organization's go-to copy editor and proofreader.
  • Ensure clarity, accuracy, consistency, and brand alignment across all written materials.
  • Maintain adherence to AP style (while knowing when brand voice calls for flexibility).
  • Review and edit content from contractors and internal contributors.

AIWorkflow Optimization

  • Leverage AI tools are responsible to improve research, ideation, outlining, editing, and efficiency.
  • Use AI-assisted workflows to streamline production while maintaining originality and brand integrity.
  • Stay current on emerging content and marketing technologies that enhance productivity and quality.

CollaborationExecution

  • Partner with designers, video producers, social media specialists, and other departments to develop cohesive campaigns.
  • Manage and execute the monthly blog calendar.
  • Oversee content production timelines and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
  • Handle media relations and press inquiries, particularly around Imaging USA.
  • Support live event communications and on-site coverage as needed.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • At least two (2) years of marketing communications or copywriting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in creative writing, journalism, English, communications, or related field.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating versatility across digital and print – samples will be requested during interview!
  • Demonstrated understanding of SEO fundamentals in content writing.
  • Experience using AI tools to enhance workflow and productivity.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Onsite in downtown Atlanta, GA
  • Full-time, Monday – Friday
  • Compensation $55-$58k
