Specifically, the Community Liaison will provide information about (1) intimate-partner violence dynamics and their connection to gun violence; (2) increase knowledge of, and accessibility to, various options that intimate-partner violence victims have available (e.g., PPOs, Extreme Risk Protection Orders; criminal processes); and ultimately (3) prevent domestic violence-related gun violence.

Michigan State Police awarded funding for SafeHouse Center and WCPO to implement community education and direct advocacy services to prevent domestic violence-related gun violence. • Help design, develop, and produce training curriculum, awareness, and outreach materials. Create and update training curriculum as needed for varying audiences.

· Distribute printed media (brochures, flyers, business cards) to community members, answering questions about the SAFE Program and IPV/gun violence prevention.

  • Provide support for verbal, written, and visual presentations on domestic violence and gun violence prevention-related topics for educational institutions and community organizations.
  • Attend community events, serving as liaison for SAFE and answering questions and providing resources as needed as a representative of the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office and SafeHouse Center.
  • Make ongoing efforts to identify new opportunities to develop and expand relationships with community partners and leaders.

  • Exhibit a commitment to reducing intimate partner violence in the community.
  • Skilled in interpersonal communication, teamwork, and public speaking.
  • Ability to use initiative, think independently, and exercise sound judgment.
