Compliance Officer (Retail & E-Commerce)

Role Overview

We’re seeking a detail-oriented Compliance Officer to enforce internal controls across our retail branches and Shopify store. You’ll run daily inter-department checks, verify POS/“PS”* and sales records, ensure policy adherence, and surface risks and process gaps directly to the Director.

If “PS” means something specific in your setup (e.g., Petty Cash, Payment Settlements, or a particular system), we can rename this throughout.Key Responsibilities

• Daily Compliance Rounds
• Perform interdepartmental compliance checks (Operations, Sales, Finance/Accounts, Inventory, Customer Support, Logistics).
• Conduct daily POS/PS and sales reconciliation: verify cash, card, and online payments; match invoices, refunds, discounts, and voids to system logs.
• Review petty cash/payment settlements and bank deposit slips; flag mismatches immediately.
• Shopify & E-Commerce Controls
• Audit Shopify orders, payouts, fees, chargebacks, and tax settings daily.
• Validate product listings (pricing, taxes, inventory, barcodes/SKUs, variants), discount codes, and promotions.
• Monitor abandoned checkouts, fraud filters, and fulfillment SLAs; coordinate fixes with relevant teams.
• Inventory & Operations
• Spot-check GRNs, stock movement, shrinkage/returns, and write-offs vs. system records.
• Verify purchase approvals, vendor bills, and GRN-Invoice matching.
• Policies & SOPs
• Maintain and update compliance SOPs and checklists; train staff on changes.
• Ensure data privacy, invoice controls, refund/exchange policies, and cash-handling standards are followed.
• Reporting & Escalation
• Submit a Daily Compliance Report to the Director (key findings, risks, losses prevented, fixes, owner & deadline).
• Track non-compliances to closure; escalate repeat issues and control failures.

What Success Looks Like (KPIs)

• 100% completion of daily checks and submitted reports.
• ≤ 24 hours to close critical discrepancies.
• Zero unresolved variances in monthly sales/payout reconciliations.
• Reduction in stock shrinkage and payment exceptions month-over-month.
• Audit readiness: all SOPs and logs up-to-date.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• 2–4+ years in compliance/audit, retail operations, or finance; retail + e-commerce experience preferred.
• Strong Shopify experience: orders, payouts, taxes, discounts, inventory, and basic Liquid/admin familiarity.
• Solid grasp of POS/Petty Cash/Payment Settlement processes and sales reconciliation.
• Proficient with Excel/Google Sheets (lookups, pivots, reconciliation templates).
• Strong documentation, investigation, and communication skills; assertive follow-through.

Tools You’ll Use

• Slack/Teams, project trackers (e.g., Trello/Asana)

Working Hours

• 6 days/week; daily morning checks and end-of-day reconciliation windows.

Compensation

• Market competitive salary

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Rs40,000.00 - Rs50,000.00 per month
