This role involves the operation and basic maintenance of a custom-built, gantry-style concrete 3D printer, which uses off-the-shelf components and a simple control system. The candidate is preferred to enjoy working with technology, are comfortable with construction materials, and have a mechanical and electrical aptitude.
Responsibilities:
Printer Operation:
-
Load, start, and monitor printing jobs according to project specifications and safety procedures.
-
Monitor the concrete material delivery system and mixing process to ensure consistent flow.
-
Perform routine checks during printing to identify and resolve minor issues (e.g., nozzle clogs, material flow inconsistencies).
Material Handling:
-
Assist in preparing, mixing, and loading specialized concrete/mortar materials for the printer.
Ensure the proper cleanup of material delivery hoses, pumps, and the print head after each job.
Basic Maintenance:
-
Perform routine pre- and post-operation checks on the printer's mechanical components (gantry movement, motors, guide rails, etc.).
-
Assist in minor troubleshooting and repair of the simple control system and mechanical components under supervision.
-
Keep the printer and surrounding work area clean and organized.
Safety & Reporting:
-
Adhere to all job site safety standards and operate the equipment responsibly.

Basic Qualifications (Skills & Knowledge)
Technical Aptitude:
Basic familiarity with mechanical systems and understanding of how simple motors or robotics operate.
Computer Skills:
Basic proficiency in using a computer or tablet for operating a simple control interface (G-code sender, basic printer control software) and basic knowledge of 3d modelling software (CAD) to produce or modify simple designs made by design engineers.
Construction/Material Knowledge: Basic understanding of construction materials, particularly concrete or mortar, including mixing, consistency, and curing.
Troubleshooting:
Ability to observe system function, identify simple problems (e.g., a loose wire, a jam), and communicate them clearly.
Electrical awareness:
Basic understanding of electrical circuits both DC and AC (single and 3 phase) to be able to troubleshoot and fix simple issues like loose wiring in a safe manner.
Work Environment:
Comfortable working on a construction or workshop site, which may involve physical labor, lifting, working outdoors, securing heavy loads for crane lifting and securing them in a trailer.
