Job Description
The Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing Reviewer’s primary responsibility is to review Contract Document drawings and specifications related to the construction of new multifamily and the preservation of existing multifamily affordable housing developments across the Commonwealth. The review is performed to confirm compliance with MEP design standards, energy efficiency standards and other criteria established by the Agency. This role ensures that these building systems are safe, functional and cost-effective.
Duties And Responsibilities

Conduct thorough reviews of project drawings and specifications for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, civil, and site design for compliance with Agency requirements.

Provide written comments to architects, developers, and other agency staff upon completion of each Contract Document review.

Verify all Agency mechanical/electrical related Threshold Criteria and Selection Criteria, certified in loan applications, are included in the contract documents.

Review and coordinate the thermal envelope and other project insulation requirements with other Architecture + Engineering staff to assure energy efficiency and cost-effective design.

Coordinate mechanical/electrical reviews with architectural review.

Complete comprehensive review of assigned loan applications and provide comments to the Development Division and other agency staff.

Review loan application construction costs and professional fees for reasonableness.

Review all Project Capital Needs Assessments (PCNAs) and Energy Audits submitted with loan applications for the preservation of existing affordable housing.

Conduct site visits to project sites when requested.
Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or one of the engineering sciences, or related field.

A minimum of two (2) years of practical experience in the design of HVAC, Plumbing, or Electrical systems in multifamily housing, or equivalent is preferred.

Equivalent relevant experience (5-7 years)

Multifamily Energy Rater experience, certification or accreditation is a plus.
