Construction Estimator

Role Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Construction Estimator to assess potential costs and benefits of construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to develop accurate and competitive estimates. Your insights will play a critical role in supporting operational decisions and strategic planning. The ideal candidate is highly numerate, organized, and a strong communicator, with a solid understanding of construction processes and cost estimation techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project requirements, technical documents, and specifications to prepare accurate cost

estimates.

  • Identify appropriate metrics and methods to support estimation accuracy.
  • Conduct site visits, inspect warehouses, and review plans to gather relevant data.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and contractors to clarify project scope and technical

Requirements.

  • Perform risk analysis and incorporate contingencies into cost projections.
  • Review supplier and subcontractor quotes to identify cost-effective solutions.
  • Develop detailed bid proposals and cost reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, material costs, and labor rates.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Support project planning, budgeting, and scheduling activities with accurate forecasting.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Proven experience as a construction estimator (minimum 5 years preferred).
  • Solid understanding of project management principles and basic accounting practices.
  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with cost estimation methodologies.
  • Proficient with industry-standard estimating software such as Timberline, HCSS HeavyBid, or

similar tools.

  • Highly comfortable working with numbers, data, and digital tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science,

Quantity Surveying, or a related field is required.

  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator – CPE) is an asset.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $74,535.25 - $89,762.88 per year
