Construction Project Administrator

Thayer Homes is a small, family-owned residential spec home builder in Raleigh, NC. We build high-quality spec homes and are looking for a motivated, self-starting Construction Project Administrator to support our growing operations. This is a hands-on role that reports directly to the owner and plays a key part in keeping our projects on track from permitting through closing.

If you have decent experience in residential luxury spec home building, enjoy juggling multiple tasks, and have basic bookkeeping skills, we want to hear from you!

What You’ll Do:

  • Handle permitting processes with Wake & Franklin County and local jurisdictions
  • Manage purchasing: obtain bids from contractors and suppliers, place orders for materials
  • Prepare documentation for construction loans, draws, and home sales/closings
  • Assist with design and selections: source materials, gather product information, maintain selections sheets and spreadsheets
  • Assist field supervisors
  • Coordinate utilities setup and transfers for new homes
  • Manage HOA requirements and communications
  • Oversee short-term rental (Airbnb) operations for any company properties
  • Perform data entry, basic bookkeeping/accounting tasks, and reconciliations
  • Handle insurance, vendor onboarding, and ongoing vendor management
  • Support website updates and general administrative needs

This is a true hybrid role, you’ll split time between our home office, working remotely, visiting job sites, meeting suppliers, and handling whatever comes up to keep projects moving.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in residential construction, home building, or real estate development (permitting, purchasing, selections, and vendor coordination strongly preferred)
  • Basic bookkeeping skills (QuickBooks or similar is a plus)
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks across different locations
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, you thrive when juggling multiple homes and deadlines
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets), documents, Builder Trend project management software and other general office software
  • Comfortable working in a small family-owned company where everyone wears multiple hats
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed)

What We Offer:

  • Competitive base salary $52,000 – $62,000 (depending on experience)
