Role Purpose
The Mechanical Team Leader is responsible for leading a team of technicians and site personnel in the installation, execution, and maintenance of mechanical systems on a construction site. This role ensures that all mechanical works are carried out according to approved drawings, project specifications, safety standards, and within set timeframes.
Key Accountabilities

Lead, supervise, and coordinate the activities of mechanical site teams (technicians, fitters, welders, etc.).

Ensure proper installation of mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting.

Interpret and implement mechanical drawings and specifications on site.

Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and other site disciplines to ensure smooth workflow and avoid conflicts.

Ensure all mechanical work is carried out in compliance with project standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.

Assist in planning daily tasks, allocating manpower, and monitoring progress.

Inspect work and ensure it meets quality benchmarks before inspections or handovers.

Report any delays, issues, or technical problems to site engineers or project management.

Ensure tools, materials, and equipment are available and in good working condition.

Conduct toolbox talks and enforce safety awareness among team members.

Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities as required.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field.

6+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical works within construction projects.

Proven experience in leading site teams and supervising mechanical installations.

Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, and installation techniques.

Familiarity with industry codes and standards.

Good communication, team leadership, and coordination skills.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and site instructions.

Basic knowledge of MS Office and AutoCAD is a plus.
