Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Content Writer/Proposal Developer to support our organization in crafting high-quality, compelling project proposals for submission to national and international donors. The consultant will be engaged on an as-needed basis to develop, review, and refine proposals, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and organizational objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, a deep understanding of donor expectations, and experience in grant writing or project proposal development.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and analyze donor priorities, guidelines, and funding criteria to tailor proposals accordingly.
• Develop well-structured, persuasive, and technically sound project proposals, concept notes, and grant applications.
• Collaborate with program teams to gather necessary inputs, including project objectives, budgets, timelines, and impact metrics.
• Edit and refine given/existing proposals to enhance clarity, coherence, and competitiveness.
• Ensure compliance with donor formatting, submission requirements, and deadlines.
• Occasionally support in developing reports, case studies, and other donor communication materials.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in International Development, Communications, English, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in proposal writing, grant development, or technical writing for NGOs/development sector.
• Strong understanding of donor agencies (e.g., UN, EU, foundations, corporate CSR) and their funding mechanisms.
• Excellent research, writing, and editing skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise, and compelling narratives.
• Familiarity with logframes, theory of change, and results-based management approaches.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaborative tools (Google Docs, SharePoint).
• Self-motivated, deadline-driven, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Experience

• Prior work with NGOs, international organizations, or consulting firms on donor-funded projects.
• Knowledge of multiple sectors (e.g., health, education, M&E, livelihoods, Engineering, climate change) is a plus.

Contract Terms

• Engagement will be on a per-project basis, with fees negotiated per assignment.
• Consultant must be available to meet tight deadlines as needed.
