Consultant - Pediatric

Job Description

Job Scope:

Responsible for pediatric patients with medical problems generally considered to fall his/her specialty.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensures implementation of the Ministry of Health regulations, the Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and the Department Policy and Guidelines.
• Diagnosis and treatment of patients referred to department and responsible to run his/her own clinic.
• Responsible to investigates, diagnoses and treats medically and/or surgically all patients referred to him/her with conditions problems appropriate to his specialty and will determine the need for clinical investigations and physiological testing appropriate to making his diagnosis, and will undertake the management of the patient's condition, with appropriate follow up.
• Provides supervision to the department registrars working in ER, ward and NICU.
• Ensures safety of patients and staff.
• Lead the resuscitation process during CODE BLUE pediatric cases while on call.
• Responsible for maintaining a working environment that promotes high Standards for patient care, customer service, and ethical behavior.
• Co-ordinates and exercises overall professional control over the activities of Medical Registrars for ensuring that sound administrative and professional standards of medical practice are maintained.
Attends regularly scheduled meeting for the improvement of patient care services and delivery.

  Job Requirements:
  
  
  Education and Experience

• PhD/Royal College/Fellowship/Membership in Pediatrics
• Minimum 7 years of experience post Fellowship/Membership experience in relevant specialty
  
  Job-Specific/Technical Skills
• Good communication skills.
• Knowledge of Required Organizational practices/patient safety standards.
• Command over professional code of ethics, medical bylaws.
• Knowledge of evidence based Age specific/ Population specific patient care clinical guidelines accepted by the hospital.
• Culturally competent (Kuwaiti patients’ culture and beliefs).
• AHA certified Basic Life support provider
