- Diagnose and treat respiratory disorders such as asthma, COPD, pneumonia, TB, ILD, and lung infections.
- Take detailed medical history and perform physical examinations related to lung health.
- Interpret diagnostic tests (X-ray, CT, HRCT, PFT, spirometry, ABG, sleep studies).
- Perform procedures like bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, pleural fluid tapping, and lung biopsy (where applicable).
- Manage acute respiratory emergencies such as asthma attacks, pneumothorax, and respiratory failure.
- Provide ventilator management and oversee ICU respiratory care.
- Prescribe medications, inhalers, nebulization therapy, and oxygen therapy.
- Educate patients on inhaler techniques, breathing exercises, lifestyle modifications, and smoking cessation.
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans when needed.
- Coordinate with physicians, intensivists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and technicians.
- Maintain accurate medical records, case sheets, and follow hospital protocols.
- Ensure infection control and patient safety as per hospital/NABH guidelines.
- Participate in clinical meetings, audits, and quality improvement programs.
- Stay updated with advancements in pulmonology and attend CMEs/conferences.
