Job Summary

At the Indian Health Service (IHS), Contact Representatives in Purchased/Referred Care (PRC) play a key role in ensuring patients receive timely access to medically necessary services. This position supports eligibility determinations, coordination of alternate resources, and responsible use of federal healthcare funds.

Key Responsibilities

• Determine patient eligibility in accordance with federal regulations and IHS policy
• Conduct interviews to verify eligibility and identify alternate resources (Medicare, Medicaid, VA, private insurance)
• Issue authorizations or denial letters and ensure funds are available prior to obligation
• Research complex cases and coordinate with providers, tribal entities, and other agencies
