We are seeking an expert professional to lead and develop our Contract Administration Team across Houston, TX and Calgary, AB playing a vital role in supporting IR, FX and physical and financial commodity marketing and procurement transactions.

In this role, you’ll bring your contract acuity to the forefront-reviewing, drafting, and negotiating complex agreements, optimizing workflows between front, middle and back-office functions, and driving continuous improvement in systems, data and processes. You’ll also ensure strict adherence to corporate, risk, credit, and trade compliance policies.

What you will do:

  • Manage, oversee, develop, and provide direction to Contract Administration team accountable for drafting, negotiating, reviewing, and amending contracts
  • Ensure timely and accurate execution, management and retention of natural gas contracts, power, crude oil and NGL agreements, physical power agreements and financial derivative agreements. This includes but is not limited to NAESB, GasEDI, REC PSA’s, storage, transportation, park and loan, confidentiality, assignments and novation, agency, capacity releases, exchange agreements, GTCs, master agreements, transloading, terminalling, railcar agreements, EEI, ISDAs and associated regulatory documents
  • Establish and maintain contracting procedures and confirmation practices to ensure the Contract Administration Department remains current with contracting and credit practices and procedures across all commodities
  • In coordination with Front Office, Legal, Tax and Credit, ensure all agreements are drafted, negotiated, reviewed, and amended by the Contract Negotiators for all commodity contracts (NAESB, GasEDI, ISDA, EEI, REC, GT&C, storage, transportation, exchange agreements, etc.)
  • Assist Legal and Business Units with the development of precedent agreements and negotiation of other non-standard agreements (netting, confidentiality, etc.)
  • Maintain an evolving knowledge of changing regulatory requirements (Dodd Frank, Mfid II, Canadian Regulatory) pertinent to above agreement types
  • Provide ongoing leadership and development to the Contract Administration team; develop each team member, identify and pursue career growth opportunities through mentorship, training and alignment with organizational goals

  • Build strong working relationships with the Front Office, Legal, Tax, Risk, Trade Compliance and Credit and MRM systems teams
  • Provide process and system recommendations to address business needs impacting contractual changes which address Legal, Risk and Business Unit concerns
  • Ensure proper records documentation and contractual data is maintained in Enbridge systems, and ongoing compliance with records management & data governance requirements
  • Ensure SOX compliance requirements are consistently met and maintained through effective controls, documentation and regular audits with internal and external auditors
  • Initiate, monitor and drive process efficiencies in department processes and procedures through innovation, automation, performing self-assessments/internal audits while concurrently understanding impacts on other groups
  • Assist Legal with on-going development and updating of Enbridge contract templates as well as new template and one-off contract development
  • Own and evolve various projects and other initiatives, including Business Continuity Plan, system enhancements, implementations & upgrades, and ad hoc tasks as required

Who you are :

You have:

  • 10+ years relevant experience within oil and gas contracting practices and administration along with a bachelor’s degree preferably in commerce

You can:

  • Show strong negotiation, multi-tasking, organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment while also exhibiting managerial skills with a team development focus

You are:

  • An excellent written and verbal communicator with strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail
  • A positive self-starter who can work independently and with a team across geographic locations

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
