Control Engineer

Position Overview:

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, programming, and supporting industrial automation and control systems across multiple production lines. This role requires hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI design, electrical troubleshooting, and integration of new manufacturing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement control systems for new and existing equipment
  • Program and debug PLCs, HMIs, and motion control systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues to minimize downtime
  • Collaborate with maintenance, electrical, and mechanical engineering teams to optimize automation performance
  • Support plant upgrades, system integrations, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain accurate documentation for electrical schematics, ladder logic, and network configurations
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards (NFPA, OSHA, etc.)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in controls or automation engineering within a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in PLC and HMI programming (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell preferred)
  • Experience with industrial communication networks (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.)
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams

Preferred Experience:

  • Robotics integration (Fanuc, ABB, or similar)
  • Servo and motion control systems
  • Vision systems and data acquisition
