Job Posting – Controller

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is seeking qualified applicants for a Controller in the center city office.

The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the operations of the Office for Financial Services (OFS) and ensure that financial accounting is in accordance with current generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

This position is also responsible for providing guidance, technical assistance and consultation to members of the clergy, religious, department directors, and managers of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in the areas of accounting policies, external financial reporting, internal management reporting, budget preparation, tax and government regulatory compliance and treasury management. In addition to providing guidance and consultation to these groups, the position is responsible for managing and leading a team of eight – Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Sr. Accountant (2), Treasury Analyst, Account Payable, Accounting Clerk and an Executive Administrative Assistant.

Qualified Applicants must have a combination of the following:

• B.A. in Accounting

• CPA, preferred

• 8-10 years of accounting management

• Knowledge of GAAP and best practices

• Experience in preparation of combined financial statements

• Proficient organizational, listening, communication and presentation skills

• Able to be objective when dealing with sensitive matters

• Strong understanding of mission work and alignment with the teachings of the Catholic Church

• Practicing Catholic preferred.
