Job Description


Reporting to the Sr. Director of Content Strategy, this producer will play a critical role in executing MS NOW’s direct-to-consumer programming strategy, growing the audience and as well as fostering deep engagement from MS NOW fans. We’re looking for a producer who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and experienced in a fast-paced, news environment.

This person will join the team launching MS NOW’s direct-to-consumer membership. They’ll support the MS NOW team by producing original content formats with existing talent and new voices. They will work closely with the MS NOW Linear Programming and Digital Editorial teams to produce a daily content offering that drives subscriber growth and profitability.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce, write, shoot, and edit exclusive video content for MS NOW’s direct-to-consumer offering, including news and non-news programming
  • Pitch and manage MS NOW hosts and reporters as well as external talent to launch and produce DTC series and formats
  • Produce regular livestreams, including support for breaking news moments, special live events
  • Help source, evaluate, and produce content pitches from the broader MS NOW organization
  • Curate featured video content within the MS NOW direct-to-consumer app
  • Partner with Linear Programming, Live Events, Social, Audio, and Digital teams to execute cross-platform programming ideas
  • Maintain MS NOW’s high editorial standards and journalistic rigor in all aspects of content development and production
  • Stay up to date on important news stories and consumer trends, proactively identifying and pitching engaging ideas to grow the DTC audience and the MS NOW brand

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience producing news / political content / writing news / breaking news / political content for digital and/or social platforms
  • Demonstrable success collaborating with reporters and broadcast talent on creative content for digital platforms
  • Strong news writing, research, and communication skills
  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours to service needs of a 24/7 news product
  • Flexibility to respond to breaking news situations outside of regular working hours
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Adobe Premiere and YouTube Studio
  • Understanding of digital gear (camera operations, microphones)
  • Deep knowledge and passion for news and politics
  • Deep knowledge of content strategy in digital, social media, streaming, livestreaming space

Additional Job Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work in New York, NY.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.

Salary Range: $115,000 – $150,000
