Job Summary
We are seeking an experience, thorough and detail-oriented Corporate Accountant to join our finance team. This pivotal role involves managing comprehensive accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in corporate accounting principles, technical accounting, and financial analysis, with a passion for maintaining integrity and precision in all financial activities. As a key contributor, you will support the organization’s financial health through meticulous account reconciliation, financial statement preparation, and adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Duties
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Manage general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.
- Conduct detailed account analysis to identify discrepancies, resolve issues promptly, and maintain clean financial records.
- Hands-on bookkeeping and supervision of accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
- Perform bank reconciliations and cash flow analysis to monitor liquidity and optimize financial resources.
- Ensure regulatory reporting requirements are met accurately and on time, including filings related to securities law and governmental agencies.
- Support internal controls compliance by assisting with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) procedures and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on budgeting, forecasting, and financial management initiatives.
- Utilize advanced accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms to streamline processes.
- Mentor junior team members by providing guidance on technical accounting issues
- Assist with internal audits and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and supporting audit procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations including securities law and GAAP standards to ensure ongoing compliance.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA certification preferred but not required.
- Proven experience in corporate accounting within a fast-paced environment; public accounting experience is highly valued.
- Demonstrated expertise in technical accounting areas such as GAAP reporting, SOX compliance, governmental accounting or non-profit sectors.
- Strong proficiency in financial software applications including PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero or QuickBooks; advanced Excel skills are essential.
- Hands-on experience with account reconciliation processes such as general ledger reconciliation and bank reconciliation.
- Knowledge of tax regulations related to corporate finance and experience handling tax-related reporting is advantageous.
- Familiarity with financial concepts like accrual accounting, double-entry bookkeeping, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis techniques.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
- Strong communication skills for preparing clear financial reports and collaborating across departments.
