Corporate Policy & Governance Specialist

Job Purpose

The Corporate Policy & Governance Specialist will lead the development, alignment, and lifecycle management of corporate policies, while supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of governance and enterprise risk management frameworks across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and maintain corporate policies, governance frameworks, and internal control documentation in alignment with regulatory, Board, and other organizational requirements.
  • Lead and ensure timely and structured policy governance lifecycle activities including drafting, stakeholder consultations, review, approval, dissemination, training, archival, and scheduled reviews across all functions.
  • Ensure alignment of policies and relevant procedures with Delegation of Authority (DoA), governance, enterprise risk management and business continuity requirements, and other organizational requirements.
  • Advise departments on policy interpretation, implementation, and alignment with governance standards.
  • Support governance reviews, gap assessments, and provide recommendations for governance improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure policies are practical, risk-informed, and consistently implemented.
  • Maintain accurate repository and version control of approved policies, circulars, directives, and governance instructions.
  • Conduct research and benchmarking on governance practices, regulatory updates, and industry standards.
  • Develop and deliver awareness programs, training, and capacity building on governance and policy compliance at all organizational levels.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements related to governance and policies-related matters.
  • Contribute to the development of continuous improvement initiatives related to governance, compliance culture, and operational excellence.
  • Monitor and report on policy compliance and support investigations of policy breaches, contributing to corrective action plans.
  • Support on board related activities by preparing governance-related materials, progress reports, and implementation status updates.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education / Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Legal Studies, Public Policy, or Governance. Master’s Degree preferred. Certification in governance, compliance

  • ISO management systems, or policy management is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 5–7 years in governance, corporate policy management, regulatory compliance, legal administration, audit, or corporate control environment.

  • Experience in a regulated or semi-government environment is an advantage.

Knowledge

Strong understanding of corporate governance frameworks, DoA, internal controls, ISO frameworks (e.g., 37000, 31000, 22301), policy development, document control, policy writing, and board committee governance
