Corporate Trainer

Summary: This position is responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating training programs that enhance Heart of Texas Goodwill’s employees’ skills, support professional growth, and align with organizational goals. This role works closely with department leaders, managers and subject matter experts to design learning initiatives that improve performance, increase employee engagement, promote a culture of continuous learning, and measure outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include, but are not limited to the following as other duties may be assigned:

  • Represents and promotes Heart of Texas Goodwill in a professional manner while reinforcing the mission and values of the organization.
  • Designs, prepares, and delivers training sessions, workshops, and seminars in a variety of formats (in-person, virtual, blended).
  • Creates instructional materials, such as training manuals, facilitator guides, participant handouts, e-learning modules, and multimedia resources.
  • Facilitates new employee orientation, professional development initiatives, compliance training, and ongoing skills-based training.
  • Evaluates training effectiveness using assessments, feedback, and performance metrics; recommend improvements as needed.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design techniques, and industry best practices.
  • Recommends training strategies and solutions to address identified gaps and support departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Tracks and reports training, participation, completion rates, and outcomes to leadership.
  • Maintains accurate records of participation and completion in the Learning Management System (LMS) or other tracking systems.
  • Prepares documentation for audits, compliance reviews, or accreditation processes as required.
  • Ensures training programs comply with organizational policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
  • Serves as a resource to supervisors and managers in identifying skill gaps and recommending solutions.
  • Promotes an inclusive and equitable learning environment where employees feel respected and supported.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all aspects of work.
  • Travels to various locations as required by training schedules and organizational needs.

Qualification Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must pass a drug screen. A criminal background check is required. A driver’s license check is required. Must show proof of current driver’s license and minimum auto liability insurance coverage.

Minimum Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theories, instructional design methodologies, and training evaluation models.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and public speaking skills with the ability to adapt to different learning styles.
  • Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools, virtual meeting platforms, and multimedia instructional technologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and complete assignments independently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business needs into training solutions.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion at all times.

Education and/or Experience, Technical Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Business, Organizational Development or related field and a minimum of 2 years of experience in corporate training, instructional design, or adult education. A minimum of 1 years’ experience with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning development tools. Professional certifications in training and development (e.g., CPLP, CPTM, ATD Certification) preferred but not required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to Goodwill's liability insurance provider.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties:

  • This job may work within noise levels that range from quiet to very noisy.
  • This position operates in a professional office environment, with regular interaction across departments and with external training partners.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or extended hours is required for special events, programs, or projects.
  • Travel to company sites, training facilities, or professional conferences is expected.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing while delivering training.
  • Frequent use of computers, projectors, and presentation equipment.
  • Occasional lifting of training materials and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Travel to off-site training sessions throughout company locations is required.
  • Driving is required.
