Part-Time Corrections Officer – Elk County Prison

The County of Elk is hiring entry-level, part-time Corrections Officers to join our dedicated team at the Elk County Prison in Ridgway, PA. This is a bargaining unit position with a starting wage of $18.45/hour, plus shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure safety and security of inmates, staff, and the public
• Enforce rules and regulations
• Prevent escapes and maintain inmate discipline
• Escort inmates to court, appointments, and other facilities
• Operate and inspect security systems
• Supervise inmate visitation and report violations

Requirements:

• Valid Driver’s License
• Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays (24/7 coverage required)
• Must be free of criminal history (background checks conducted)
• Strong commitment to safety and professionalism
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must pass drug test
