Cost Controller

Claude Lavoie is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Controller to join our operations team in Mesaieed, Qatar. This role is ideal for a finance professional with strong cost management expertise, who thrives in a dynamic industrial or project-based environment.

About the Role

As a Cost Controller, you will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and controlling project and operational costs to ensure financial efficiency and accuracy. You will play a key role in supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities while ensuring compliance with company policies and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain cost control systems and procedures
• Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and cost performance
• Prepare detailed cost reports, variance analyses, and forecasts
• Collaborate with project managers and finance teams to ensure accurate cost tracking
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements
• Review and validate invoices, purchase orders, and financial documentation
• Support monthly and quarterly financial closing activities
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in cost control or project accounting
• Experience in construction, oil & gas, or industrial projects preferred
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and cost management principles
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar)
• Advanced Excel and analytical skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
