Role Overview
The Cost Engineer will be responsible for supporting the commercial Manager by monitoring project costs, analysing variances, tracking material and labour productivity, and ensuring accurate cost reporting. The role requires strong technical knowledge of material wastage norms, material reconciliation, subcontractor cost control, manpower productivity, and scaffolding/material rate assessments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cost Control & Monitoring
- Track and monitor project costs against approved budgets.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdown of each item as per the budget
- Prepare monthly cost reports, variance analysis, and forecasts and submit to commercial manger.
- Assist in developing cost-saving measures and efficiency strategies.
2. Material Wastage & Reconciliation
- Maintain strong control over material consumption and wastage on site.
- Conduct regular material reconciliation between delivered, used, wasted, and remaining quantities.
- Identify abnormal wastage and propose corrective actions to site management.
- Ensure compliance with industry benchmarks and project-specific wastage norms.
3. Subcontractor & Contractor Cost Management
- Validate subcontractor productivity, work done, and claimed quantities.
- Support in negotiation and preparation of cost comparisons and recommendations.
4. Labour & Manpower Productivity
- Monitor daily labour productivity and compare with planned outputs.
- Analyse delays or low productivity and provide improvement recommendations.
5. Scaffolding, Equipment & Material Costing
- Maintain accurate knowledge of scaffolding material rates, rental rates, and productivity norms.
- Prepare cost build-ups for scaffolding and other construction materials.
- Review equipment utilisation and ensure optimal usage to control costs.
6. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly cost tracking reports and submit to Commercial Manager.
- Maintain material logs, reconciliation sheets, manpower reports, and cost databases.
- Coordinate closely with procurement team, site engineers, QS team
7. Risk Identification
- Identify potential cost risks or overruns early and escalate to Commercial Manger
- Recommend preventive measures to avoid budget deviations.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, wastage standards, and cost analysis.
- Proven experience in material reconciliation and cost control.
- Understanding of labour productivity norms, output analysis, and manpower planning.
- Knowledge of scaffolding materials, rates, and productivity calculations.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel; knowledge of cost control software is an advantage.
- Good communication and coordination skills.

Pay: AED100.00 - AED200.00 per month
