Shear International Co. Ltd is looking for a Costing Engineer in its Steel Foundry & Iron Casting Project in Jeddah, KSA. The Costing Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for steel casting products and manufacturing processes. This includes analyzing material, labor, overhead, and production time to determine competitive and profitable pricing. The role works closely with engineering, production, procurement, and sales departments to support budgeting, quoting, and cost control initiatives.

Key Responsibilities: Cost Estimation:
  • Prepare detailed cost calculations for new and existing products, including raw materials, consumables, labor, tooling, machine usage, and overheads.
  • Estimate costs for various foundry processes such as pattern making, molding, melting, pouring, fettling, machining, heat treatment, and finishing.
Quotation Support:
  • Collaborate with sales and technical teams to prepare quotations for customer RFQs.
  • Provide timely and competitive pricing while ensuring company profitability and cost accuracy.
  • Evaluate different production scenarios to offer cost-effective solutions to customers.
Cost Analysis:
  • Analyze variances between estimated and actual costs, identifying key cost drivers.
  • Monitor production costs and highlight inefficiencies or opportunities for savings.
  • Support the development of standard costs and update them periodically based on actual performance and market changes.
Cross-Department Collaboration:
  • Work with engineering and production teams to understand technical specifications and production requirements.
  • Liaise with procurement to get up-to-date raw material and consumable pricing.
  • Support finance and planning departments with cost-related inputs during budgeting and forecasting.
Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed records of all cost calculations and assumptions used.
  • Generate cost reports and summaries for internal use, management review, and audits.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Master's / Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Finance, or related field.
  • 3-6 years of experience in costing, preferably in a foundry or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of foundry operations, processes, and material flow.
  • Proficient in cost modeling, analysis tools, and Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams.
