Job Title: Counsellor – Patient Counselling
Location: Panvel
Department: Patient Services / OPD / Marketing / Support
Reporting To: Hospital Administrator / Medical Director / PRO
Job Summary:

The Counsellor will be responsible for providing professional guidance and emotional support to patients and their families, helping them understand diagnoses, treatment plans, and hospital services. The role also involves patient education, follow-ups, and ensuring overall patient satisfaction and comfort during their hospital journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and interact with patients and their families in a warm, empathetic, and professional manner.
  • Provide counselling to patients regarding their diagnosis, available treatments, and hospital procedures in coordination with doctors.
  • Educate patients about pre- and post-treatment care, medication adherence, and lifestyle changes where applicable.
  • Help patients overcome fears, anxiety, or hesitation related to medical treatments or procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and records at all times.
  • Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure smooth patient communication and experience.
  • Follow up with patients post-consultation or post-surgery to check progress and satisfaction.
  • Provide counselling support to family members, especially during critical or stressful cases.
  • Assist in handling patient grievances tactfully and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Maintain counselling records, reports, and daily logs.
  • Support hospital awareness, health camps, or community outreach programs when required.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and strong listening ability.
  • Good understanding of hospital services, treatments, and patient care.
  • Ability to manage emotionally charged or sensitive situations calmly.
  • Proficiency in local language(s), English, and Hindi preferred.
  • Basic computer and record-keeping skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or Healthcare Management.
  • Prior experience (1–3 years) in hospital counselling, patient relations, or healthcare communication preferred.
  • Freshers with strong interpersonal and communication skills may also apply.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time; general duty as per hospital requirement.

Compensation:

  • As per industry standards and experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
