Overview: The Courier provides pick-up and delivery service for various Campuses,satellites and supporting partners.

The Courier demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant and the commitment to providing Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepares and maintains accurate transportation logs and other data as required.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Notifies management of any changes to Driving Record.
  • Responsible for all violations received while performing duties.
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.
  • Delivers medical specimens following safety, environmental and infection control methods.
  • Ensures prompt, courteous pick up and delivery of items to physician’s offices, draw stations and various Covenant campuses.
  • Maintains effective communication with our internal and external customers.
  • Provides feedback to leadership regarding our customer expectations and level of service provided.
  • Adheres to established policies and procedures, organizational objectives, continuous quality improvements, quality assessment, and safety standards.
  • Ensures all duties are performed in a courteous manner.
Qualifications:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School graduate or equivalent.
REQUIRED: Valid Michigan Driver’s license and a driving record that allows Covenant HealthCare’s auto insurance carrier to provide insurance coverage.


Previous experience as a courier, preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/EXPERIENCE
Must have working knowledge of area or the ability to read navigational maps.
Must have a strong knowledge of regulations (State & Hospital) for transporting specimens, including biohazard materials.
Self-Organized, ability to multi task and prioritize.
Must maintain a clean driving record.
Must be able to record and log equipment operational status.
Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
To maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards.
Excellent verbal communication skills with demonstrated capabilities in follow-up activities.
Must be a team player with the ability to work independently as well as in the Courier team.

Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
Constant lifting up to 25 lbs.
Constant visual accommodation, color vision and field of vison

Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing
Frequent pulling, climbing, balancing, twisting, handling, talking
Frequent hearing, near vision, midrange vision, far vision and depth perception
Occasional stooping, reaching and feeling

Work exposed to natural elements.
