CPA Year Round Position Work/Life Balance Workload

If you enjoy consulting with business owners who are looking for tax saving advice and help multiple times per year and working with a manageable number of clients and returns year round rather than crunch time stress and then long periods of inactivity, this may be the perfect position for you. We are looking for a CPA with experience doing business entity and personal returns for business owners who can be client facing and build a relationship with them by providing value in planning and support for each one rather than focusing on high volume production and once a year contact with clients.

We do tax returns for our bookkeeping clients, so the books will be ready and prepared before you start the return. We generally do both the business (Most often S Corp, but also Partnership, C Corp and Schedule C) and personal returns with clients in most states.

**Previous experience preparing and signing business returns, along with a CPA qualification is required for this role.**

Ultimately, you will play a vital role in our company’s ability to serve clients looking for a single source for bookkeeping, tax and advisory services. We have a great reputation for quality work and great customer service and want to build on that base by adding people to the team who share those priorities and values.

The goal is to start with doing the end to end process but quickly grow to being able to manage a team of other preparers and take on a leadership role in building a high performing tax department. We have over 1100 bookkeeping clients, nearly all of whom are open to moving their tax work to our firm. Getting clients is NOT the issue here! Serving them effectively and with the same level of customer attention and care they are currently getting is the focus. As the department continues to grow the ability to grow in the position is open to personal interest and ambition and can become a bigger role or stay in a comfortable position serving a fixed number of clients and maintaining the desired work/life balance throughout.

Responsibilities

• Fully prepare, review and sign business and personal returns including 1120, 1120S, 1065, 1040/Sched C, accurately calculating/reporting deductions (home office, auto expenses, etc)
• Evaluate entity structure to advise clients on Tax compliance, including foreign owned US entities. Consult with clients on entity selection and Tax planning
• Provide excellent customer service by being responsive to client's requests.
• Ability to follow prior work papers and update them to support tax information reported on tax returns.
• Ability to concisely communicate to clients information that is needed to complete their tax returns as well as complex tax concepts.
• Be truly eager to learn something new everyday and to embrace change.
• Provide Tax advisory consultations and proactively suggest tax savings strategy to current and prospective clients

Skills

• Proven work experience as a Certified Public Accountant and active CPA license
• Thorough knowledge of accounting and financial procedures and preparing the various types of returns
• Strong technical skills preparing personal tax returns. Ability to keep abreast of tax law changes and to determine the impact the changes will have on the client's tax situation.
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Experience with QuickBooks Online accounting software including ability to prepare AJEs for posting by the bookkeepers and to review work for clarification and problem solving
• Experience with ProConnect preferred, but not required
• Advanced MS Excel knowledge (familiarity with formulas, VLOOKUPs and pivot tables)
• Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail
• Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information
• Prefer degree in Accounting or Finance and a require an active CPA certification

Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
