About the Role:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Crane Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and certifying all types of cranes and lifting equipment to ensure they meet safety standards, regulatory requirements, and operational reliability. This role is critical for maintaining safety across our marine, construction, and offshore projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspection & Testing: Perform thorough inspections and load testing of all lifting equipment including mobile cranes, crawler cranes, offshore cranes, gantry cranes, hoists, winches, and lifting accessories (slings, shackles, hooks).
- Certification: Issue inspection certificates and compliance reports in accordance with LOLER, BS, ISO, and international classification society standards (ABS, DNV, Lloyds).
- Defect Reporting: Identify defects, wear, corrosion, or mechanical issues; document findings and recommend corrective actions or restrictions on use.
- Maintenance Review: Review maintenance logs and service records to ensure equipment is maintained according to manufacturer and regulatory requirements.
- On-site Audits: Conduct on-site audits of crane operations and lifting activities to ensure compliance with safe work practices.
- Incident Investigation: Participate in investigations of crane-related incidents or failures and provide technical expertise.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with local and international lifting equipment regulations and standards.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed inspection records, certification files, and equipment databases.
- Advisory Role: Provide technical advice to project teams, operators, and maintenance personnel on crane safety and best practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in crane inspection, testing, and certification within marine, construction, or heavy industry.
- Certified Crane Inspector credentials from recognized bodies such as LOLER, API, LEEA, or equivalent.
- Experience with a wide range of cranes: mobile, crawler, offshore pedestal, deck cranes, and tower cranes.
- Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods (MPI, DPI, UT) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of structural integrity, hydraulic systems, and electrical controls of cranes.
Required Certifications:
- LEEA Diploma or equivalent qualification.
- API 2C / API RP 2D certification for offshore cranes (preferred).
- Valid offshore survival certificates (BOSIET/HUET) if role involves offshore work.
- NEBOSH/IOSH (advantageous for safety-related insight).
